Inter County Round-up:
DUBLIN had a great weekend. We collected two Leinster Championships
and a win against Cork
* On Saturday, the Under 16s overcame a strong challenge by Laois
in the Leinster Championship Final for their grade. Full Report
on the website and pictures on GAApics.com
* Then on Sunday the Leinster Senior Championship was played out
in Dr Cullen Park, Carlow. Again the opposition was Laois. Dublin
were going for three in a row and as the weather deteriorated in
the second half, Dublin banged in two superb goals which Laois weren't
able to match.
* Also on Sunday, the Senior "B"s travelled away to Cork
and put last years Aisling McGing Cup winners to an opening round
defeat in their own back yard, Fermoy. The final score in the Jackies
outing was 1-08 to Dublin and 0-08 to Cork.
* We mustn't forget the Dublin U12s who played a mini-game in the
Leinster Senior Final. They too won their game in style over Laois.
The County Board will meet on Tuesday next at 7.30pm in Parnell
Park. All Clubs should be in attendance. The Agenda is attached.
Fingal County Council in association with the other Dublin Authorities
is organising a Club Development programme on 28th August in the
Aviva Stadium, Lansdowne Rd. More information in the brochure [attached]
29 apprentice Referees finished a two day course this weekend bringing
to just under 60, the number of new Referees for Dublin this season.
Well done all.
Central Council have used Rule 239 to make a change to the Playing
Rules commencing on August 1st next. On and from that date Penalty
Kicks will be taken from 11m. Rule Books should be amended and Rule
490 now reads "A penalty shall be taken from the ground at
the centre point of the 11m Line, directly in front of the goal.
All players with the exception of the goalkeeper and the player
taking the kick shall be outside the 20m Line." This applies
to all teams and grades.
